Charming Princes

Today I welcome Danielle Monsch .She’s here to tell us about her new release Loving a Prince Charming and a little bit about herself.

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going  on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Danielle and comes back often to visit the blog later.

Thanks for joining us today Danielle! Oh, and I’ll be at RWA National as well. Hope to meet you there :)DanielleMonsch_LovingaPrinceCharming_800pxDanielle has a surprise too. But, you have to find it in the blog. Happy hunting!

 1)     Tell us a bit about your new release, Loving a Prince Charming.  Loving a Prince Charming is the third book in my Fairy Tales & Ever Afters series. It’s my take on Sleeping Beauty, but it’s really the story of her fiancée, Prince Seth – the aforementioned Charming. I was inspired to write this because I was tired of everything being ironic around the whole Prince Charming trope. These days, if you see a story about someone who is called a “Prince Charming”, you expect a real jerk. I wanted to go back to the original intent. Seth is an honorable man who lives in integrity, and that fact is celebrated in the story.

 2)     Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc. – I’m a fantasy writer, so I’m drawn to myths, fairy tales, and fantastical stories. I write to put my own spin on them.

 3)     What do you find draws you most to write? Becoming brand new people through my characters. I experience all these new ways to think and react when I’m playing in their worlds, and I love that. And of course, like any writer, it thrills me to death when my readers can lose themselves in a world I created as well.

4)     What else do you have in the works? More stories in my Fairy Tales & Ever Afters (Loving a Perfect Princess – Snow White’s story! – will be releasing late June).  Also, my very first novel length story, which is something completely different and it scares me to death wondering if it will actually find an audience or not. Stone Guardian is the first of my Entwined Realms series, and I call it a modern-day sword-and-sorcery fantasy paranormal romance (say that three times fast!)  Basically, the setting is our everyday world, if our everyday world contained elves and dwarves, magic, sword-fighting, fantastical creatures, and pretty much anything else you’d find in The Lord of the Rings books.  Look for that in July.

5)     How do you name your characters? Any special tricks? I spend a lot of time going through baby naming books, and I one’s that hit my eye right I put in a file for future use.

 6)     Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what?  I read on my phone! I just use the different apps, that way I’m not chained to one particular webstore.

7)     As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?  Outside of paranormal & fantasy romance, I read manga (graphic novels). I was always an art nerd, so I love the melding of beautiful drawing and exciting story.

8)     What’s your favorite guilty pleasure? I’m of the “Enjoy what you enjoy and don’t feel guilty over it” mindset – also known as, I’m too old to care what you think! HA!

9)     Any vacation or appearance plans this year? This year I’ll be at Romantic Times and RWA Nationals, so say hi to me if you see me there.

 10)  What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you? I love Old Hollywood movies (think 30’s, 40’s, 50’s). There was a reliance on characters and dialogue in those movies you don’t find as often now, and I admit, I like my stars to be almost otherworldly in their beauty and charisma.

Honor and Integrity were more than words to Seth – they were the values he lived his life by. As Prince of a large kingdom, putting duty before desire was vital for the prosperity and wellness of his people. If sometimes he looked at Kira – best friend since childhood and his personal guard – and regretted his betrothal to the Princess of a neighboring kingdom, well, that was the price he had to pay for his people’s happiness.

Even if that Princess was cursed and given the nickname Sleeping Beauty.

Seth discovers the way to end the curse and, against his father’s wishes, sets off on a perilous journey to free her with Kira by his side. But Kira represents a different type of danger… Only love can break the curse, but how can Seth keep his promise to protect Sleeping Beauty when every moment with Kira makes his heart damn duty and demand its desire?

Seth ducked lower, scrunching his body behind the tree as the chattering of the women grew louder on the other side of the trunk.

“I thought I saw him in this area,” said the first. He recognized the voice, Lady Isa – no, Ire – well, it began with an “I”. Nice enough, but her family was so desperate for a match that they pushed her to act beyond the bounds of propriety.

“He has to be around here somewhere,” said the second. Now her, he didn’t like. Lady Deva treated servants like dirt underneath her shoes. Father said he had to be nice to her since she came from a very important merchant family, so he gritted his teeth and smiled at her at formal functions. That didn’t mean he had to put up with her at any other time.

“Ladies, what are you doing standing around the garden?” And this voice was the dearest to him in the world and welcome any time he heard it.

“Kira, how nice to see you. We thought we saw His Highness and wanted to ask him if there was something special he desired for his twenty-fifth birthday. Now I’m sure he is here somewhere, since you wouldn’t be far from his side, would you? You always were so close to the prince. He’s lucky that you see to his every need.” The tone was subtle vileness, but before he could stand and make his way to the women, Kira’s arm snaked around the trunk of the tree, the forefinger pointing at him, the demand of Stay where you are undeniable.
He was busted. Might as well sit back and enjoy the show.

“Lady Deva, my charge is and always will be His Highness and His Highness alone. I am not as fortunate as you in the ability to spread myself and my favors to anyone who desires it.”

And the tension was palpable even back here. Seth cocked his head in anticipation of the next volley, but the winner was Kira as Deva backed down, saying, “We will find His Highness later. Please inform him we were looking for him.”

“I’ll be sure to do that,” Kira responded in her driest tone. There was rustling, footsteps fading, and then Kira’s voice sounded again. “It’s safe, Your Cowardness.”

He poked his head around. “They’re all gone?”

“The scary girls are no more.”

“Are you mocking me?” He looked up, up, and up. She was probably the tallest woman in the kingdom, and thank heavens he was taller than her by a couple inches or he might have had some inadequacy issues being her best friend. “How’d you get so tall? Your dad is short.”

“It’s because of how you dragged me behind you when we were kids. My legs had to stretch to keep up.” The wind picked up then, the strong wind ruffling Kira’s ponytail and whipping the red strands around her face. She smoothed them back, using the movement to cover the fact her eyes were taking in their surroundings, assessing for any possible risks or potential enemies.

She should never have been made his bodyguard. His father had been wrong to make that decision.

To keep his mind from going down that well-worn argument yet again, Seth stood and ruffled the hair she’d straightened only moments ago. “Hey!” she cried, batting at his hands and glowering at him.

“Any particular reason you are here, or is it you just don’t like sharing me with the other ladies?”

She snorted. “If they got to know you, they’d give you back in five minutes, tops.” After her hair was back to its former sleek appearance, Kira lowered her hands to her hips, her right hand resting lightly on the hilt of her sword. “As it happens, I’m here to collect you for your father.”

~~~for a little bit of fun, Danielle has offered a copy of her book as a giveaway. To qualify, you have to leave a comment below for her ~~~
Great. His father and he had not been getting along recently. There were a couple obvious reasons – his father’s decision to make Kira his bodyguard one of them – but most of it was a subtext he could not decipher and could not erase. “Any possibility of you saying you couldn’t find me?”
“Sure, the same amount of possibility that Deva is going to be the next queen of the land.”
“Why do you like him more than you like me? I thought I was your best friend.”
Kira grabbed his hand, dragging him the way he so often had dragged her. “Come on. Get it over with, and I’ll let you complain to me the rest of the day about it.”
“Fine. But I’m going to be extra-grumbly.”
Faraway Places
Today I welcome Cd Brennan .She’s here to tell us about her new release WATERSHED and a little bit about herself. What an interesting mix, Irish spirit and the romance of OZ!
I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Cd and comes back often to visit the blog later.
Thanks for joining us today Cd! And oh, how I’d love to share a glass of red wine with you right now!
And a huge thanks to you, Cristal, for having me. It is such a pleasure to stop by J
 1)     Tell us a bit about your new release, WATERSHED.watershed
Watershedis my debut release – a romance of the Irish spirit set against the stunning backdrop of Queensland, Australia.
 The story revels in those “first days”. It’s about the butterflies, about the wonderment and confusion– it’s about looking forward to seeing that person, just seeing them, even if it is only for a few minutes. It’s that time of your life that rarely can be repeated, all the great emotion and buzz that resonate in your gut when you know something is building, something inescapable, something that will change your life.
 Watershed is the first book in a series of romance novels for adventuresome women, travellers and backpackers, or those who dream of leaving it all behind, leaving their comfort zone in exchange for life-changing experiences. And in those faraway places, we follow the heroine as she finds love where she roams. Like in many journeys, the heroine’s path is not only physical but spiritual as they grow and change in their new environment.
The heroine that stars in the following book of the series will make an appearance in the previous book as a secondary character, so there is a connection throughout.
 2)     Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc.
Most definitely from life experience! I lived in Scotland for two years, Ireland for seven years (where I met my Australian husband), and Australia for over five years before settling my family back in Michigan this past year.
 I have drawn on all of these adventures to write the series, and travel is the greatest inspiration behind each book. Jokingly, one of my girlfriends in Ireland said that the past fifteen years was mere research for the author I have become today. She’s probably right!
 3)     What do you find draws you most to write?
Now, it is a need. I have to write. That’s the only way I can describe it. When I think of not writing, I get really agitated, like an addiction!
 Initially, I wrote Watershed as a challenge of sorts by a friend that I was helping with the editing of her own books. I was an editor first, then an author. But after Watershed, it became addictive, honestly. If I had the time, I’d love to get more than one book out a year. With a young family and other work, that’s how long it’s taking me! If only my 18-month old would sleep through the night…
 4)     What else do you have in the works?
Watershed is the first book in the Love Where You Roam series. The second book, A Stone’s Throw set in Scotland, is with my editor at Lyrical, and I am now writing the third book in the series, currently titled Dusting of Light, set in Alaska. The fourth and final book is set in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland but doesn’t have a title (or definite plot or characters or anything else!) yet. I chose the book to be last as Ireland still remains close to my heart.
 5)     How do you name your characters? Any special tricks?
 Mostly, I take names from a location, and I have to say for my first book, the Irish names I chose were very traditional. Margaret Mary (Maggie) and Fergus, the baddie who comes into play. Both are about as Irish as you can get. Again, I used a very common Scottish name, Hamish, for my hero in the second book of the series, A Stone’s Throw. I also ask my friends who live in the native country for suggestions. I let them name the characters. Sure, they live there, they’re Scottish, Irish, Aussie or whatever – plus it makes me happy to let them be a part of it. For the current book I am writing set in Alaska, I still don’t have a name yet for the hero. Half Russian, half Inuit, he is an intense man, second in line as tribal Shaman for one of the small Aleutian Islands at the very end of the archipelago. I’m going to put it up for competition in a couple weeks on my FB page. Let others decide!
 6)     Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what?
 Kindle – just basic, but I’d love to update to a Kindle HD, the new one. On the wish list, of course.
 7)     As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?
Honestly, I have no preference. I’ll read anything! Romance, thriller, memoir or poetry, I love to read. If you check out my Goodreads page, you will see that I am currently reading like eight books at the same time, everything from Charles Dickens to Uncle Walt, sprinkled with as much romance as I can get in.
What I would really love, though, is to have more time to read all my Lyrical sister’s books. There are so many that I have on my TBR list, and all the girls are so supportive– if only I didn’t need to sleep!
 8)     What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?
A glass of red wine almost every night. I write with it and relax by it after a long day with work and with the two little devils that are my sons.
 9)     Any vacation or appearance plans this year?
I just set the date for my Book Launch Party on June 29th for Watershed. I had it printed along with the eBook, so a local bookshop, Local Flavor, is going to help me with the launch. Since I am in northern Michigan, we are going to wait until the weekend before the 4th to get the summer crowds in. I live in a small town of about 2000 in the winter that doubles in the summer.
There will be nibbles, wine, a giveaway, a short reading by myself (ugh, I may have a couple glasses of wine before that), my Aussie husband is going to dress up as the jackaroo Gray from Watershed and greet folk at the door with a G’day. If you are in the Boyne City area, everyone is welcome! All details are under the Events page on my website
10)What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you?
I am also an Acquisitions and Content Editor for a small romance publisher. But that’s all I’m going to give away as I’m trying to keep the two separate. A person would think both jobs as an editor and author would complement each other totally, but in fact, they are very different disciplines. I do draw from my editing experience to help write, but really it slows me down. I wish I wouldn’t go over one sentence ten times before I move ahead. That plus the kids, makes me a very slow writer, indeed!
Love Where You Roam – Contemporary Romance Series
Debut Release – Book 1: Watershed –  March 4, 2013
She left home to find herself…and found love along the way.
Maggie isn’t looking for love on her backpacking trip through Australia. She’s got enough man troubles back in Ireland. Australia is her escape, a place of adventure where she can create memories to last a lifetime.
But some memories won’t be left behind.
Gray is ready to quit hiring backpackers to help with the work on his remote Queensland cattle station when Maggie turns up. She’s just passing through, but the connection they forge during the long nights herding cattle won’t be so easily cast aside.
CONTENT WARNING: A strong-willed Irish heroine, a stubborn Australian hero, and oceans of difference to bridge for love.
“In Ireland we have the Banshee.” Maggie broke Gray’s daydreaming with a start. “She is the omen of death and the messenger from the Otherworld.”
She continued in a whisper. “Often she appears an old hag. Folklore says she may also appear as a stunningly beautiful woman.” Maggie raised her brow at him, her eyes twinkling with fun.
Gray threw his head back and laughed, and she joined him. There was no shaking her. He decided he wasn’t going to best Maggie, and for the first time in a long time he was content with that.
He shifted so she had to settle against him. He heard her sigh as he wrapped his arm around her. They sat watching the fire, listening to the sounds of the bush settle for the night. It was peaceful and, Gray had to admit, romantic. He smiled, fulfilled after a long day’s hard work, some good bush tucker and a beautiful woman by his side. He had almost worked up enough courage to kiss her when she shivered, wrapping her arms around herself.
“I’m going to sleep.” Pulling off her trainers, she climbed into her swag. “Goodnight.”
Author Bio
Having traveled and lived all over the world, Cd Brennan now talks with a strange accent, a mix of distant terminology, a blend of culturally cute but confusing euphemisms that leaves everyone looking at her with a blank stare. Luckily, her Australian husband (who she met in Ireland) and her two Aussie/Yankee sons have no problem understanding her – well, except for the word “NO”.
Now settled back “home” in Michigan, she enjoys reliving her glory days by writing about them. She considers the last fifteen years abroad the perfect research for her Love Where You Roam series; matchmaking women and men from different cultures, even different hemispheres, helping them find their true one across oceans of difference.
As destiny plays a hand in all the stories, Cd Brennan truly believes that what is for you, won’t pass you by. She hopes to inspire others to get out there: “Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” [Mark Twain]  And of course, fall in love.
  Now for some fun stuff :)
The final break was brief—a momentary lapse filled with phone calls. The smiles on their faces as they ended their calls and the amusement in their voices left little doubt they’d been speaking with the women.
 If you missed the first part of the interview, you can click HERE and read part 1, HERE for part 2 or HERE for part 3.
 Part 4
Cara: May I ask what you all find so amusing?
Kade: The women are planning a surprise for us.
Stryker: *grumbles* I don’t like surprises.
Lance: You will tonight since Viviana’s taken her time planning it or you and I will have issues.
Lorenzo: Let’s get this finished. I have a treat of my own to get together for Katey.
Cara: The fourth and most recent Pleasure Brigade release, Passion’s Trust, picks up a few months after the third book. Katey was in her new job at The Brigade—working with Chase. Was it hard for you to lose her at Brigade Financial?
Lorenzo: She’d become my daily addiction. Her sweet smile and all the small things she did to brighten my day made it harder than hell to give her up. But I knew it was the right thing to do. She proved herself a valuable asset to Chase here at The Brigade quickly enough. I didn’t expect her to embrace the lifestyle with as much enthusiasm as she did.
Stryker: Her and those stacks of notebooks drove Santiago crazy. I found it sort of sexy when she’d watch Lance and I scene with Autumn and scribble as though she’d discovered a long-lost secret.
Lance: I’ve been meaning to find those notebooks and read what she noted about those scenes. It would be interesting.
Lorenzo: You will not invade her privacy like that.
Kade: *laughs and leans back* I’m glad it’s not me on the hot seat.
Cara: Tell us about The Brig. This is the first time we’ve seen it featured in the series.
Lorenzo: The Brigade is a BDSM resort. Even though most of our guests prefer to have their first experiences outside of the typical club environment, we want them to get acclimated to the way it works.
Kade: The Brig is a teaching BDSM club with everything you’d see in the real environment. It’s more instructional in nature so the positioning of the different stations and the equipment changes frequently.
Cara: We see very quickly that Katey has been exploring The Brig and has finally decided to be more active. She’s about to back out after discovering that you all are vetting potential Brigade Masters when you arrive, Lorenzo. Was that intentional? Had you been watching her?
Lorenzo: *shifts in his chair and clears his throat* Clearly you’ve been chatting with some certain females at the Brigade. *The guys laugh* I’d observed her forays into The Brig from the security monitors. I wanted to guide her through it myself but didn’t trust myself to operate hands-off. Giving her the freedom to explore unattended hopefully helped her feel at ease with the lifestyle and figure out what she was drawn to.
Cara: Tell me more about the questionnaire we see her struggling to fill out.
Lorenzo: It’s more of a checklist. It’s quite common within the BDSM lifestyle. Knowing one’s hard limits and desires is an essential facet of scene negotiations. It was even more so with Katey because of her past. I was concerned impact play would be difficult for her because of the abuse she’d suffered. But again, that’s something you should discuss with her. Not us.
Cara: Were you surprised at how easily she accepted you and the lifestyle?
Lorenzo: I was humbled. She entrusted me with her submission fully with a passion I hadn’t expected. She was more amazing than I could have foreseen.
Cara: Thank you all for speaking with us.
Stryker: *glances at his phone* Perfect timing. They’re at the gate.
Lance: *stands* Anytime. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have some subs to greet.
Katey Meadows has a dream job—working at The Brigade, an exclusive BDSM resort catering to curious, inexperienced vanillas like her. Studiously taking notes and formulating her strategy for plunging desire-first into her submission fantasies becomes an exercise in futility and sexual frustration when the Master she wants more than anything is the one man who rescued her from the brink of financial ruin. Overcoming her past was easy. Kneeling before her heart’s desire could prove impossible.
Lorenzo Garofali has adhered to a hands-off policy with Katey—until now. Determined to strip away her armor of distrust and insecurity, he soon discovers that baring her submissive desires means setting aside his baser instinct to claim her as his. Sharing her passion with his fellow Brigade Masters is tolerable. Losing her is not.
Dragon’s Claim Excerpt:
They had to get out of the club. Even through the fog of his need Hervé knew he didn’t want their first time together to be like this—a fumbling encounter on his desk or tattoo table. He wanted to be able to look at Tala as he touched him, branded him with his attention, possessed him completely, utterly, as he’d dreamed.
Reluctantly he let go of Tala’s ass long enough to reach for his amulet, intending to open a portal, but clearly the elf had the same thought and beat him to it. There was a rush of magic, so strong as to be shocking, and in a blink they were in the master bedroom at the beach house.
There was no time to even consider the extent of Tala’s power because Hervé realized not only had the elf translocated them but he’d removed all their clothes too. They were skin-to-skin and the primal rush of arousal firing through his system was almost more than Hervé could bear. The sound that broke from his throat was agonized, feral, giving aural evidence of the yearning overwhelming his soul. Ravenous, he threaded the fingers of one hand through Tala’s hair and broke the kiss. Tugging on the toffee-brown curls, Hervé gave in to the need to taste him more fully and set mouth and teeth to the other man’s neck. Elation shook him when a low moan of assent vibrated from the straining throat into his lips.
Wedging a thigh between the other man’s, Hervé shuddered at the press of the hard cock against his hip, the slick dampness illustrating the extent of Tala’s arousal. Or was it his own cock causing the trails of wetness over their stomachs? Step by step he pressed the elf backward toward the bed, aware of the rocking of their groins, the hard grasp of Tala’s hands—one on his ass, the other on the back of his head. He’d never felt weak with need before, excited beyond bearing by the knowledge he was about to make love with—no, lay claim to—another being. Within raged the urge to brand Tala with his fire, take him, take from him something elemental and necessary, as the elf had so long ago stolen a piece of his heart.
Kuma’s pulse races, his world shifts. He must protect her and does. Thus begins their journey into danger and a romance like no other.
Outlawed Realm explores the five dimensions on Earth, those who inhabit each plane and what happens when their worlds collide.
Here’s the blurb and an excerpt to show you what I mean. And, please read on because I’m also hosting a contest. 
Passion without limit. Carnal hunger that knows no bounds.
Within Earth’s five dimensions, nothing is as it seems…and desire is never far away.
In E4’s jungle, Kuma was the Alpha werewolf, bent on revenge against the hated guards. Swept with them into the E1 dimension, now he prowls Seattle at night, stopping the thugs from abducting women for use as sex slaves in E4’s Pleasure Palace.
On her way home from her nursing job, Gwen senses danger in the night’s shadows—an instant before a stranger attacks. Clinging to consciousness, she watches the impossible, a wolf fighting him off…protecting her. She wakes in her own bed, convinced it must have been a dream until she sees Kuma in human form. Virile, intense. A man like no other.
Within his powerful embrace, Gwen experiences rapture she didn’t believe existed. His unrestrained lust and burning need end her loneliness, though not the menace they face. The guards are a constant threat in their hunt for women and their determination to see Kuma dead. Together, he and Gwen must fight—for his life, her freedom, their future.
Out-of-this-world sex and a romance to die for. Features a hunk whose inner beast won’t be tamed, and the woman who craves his most shameless desire.
Gwen fought like hell not to black out. Her lids were weighted, impossible to part, similar to when she’d had too much to drink. More pictures flickered in her mind.
She was back outside the hospital, her gaze locked with the guy she’d seen there tonight. He smiled at her as he had earlier, the gesture welcoming, engaging, filled with male heat and promise she couldn’t resist.
Was he the one who carried her? How was that possible?
Her arms swung back and forth with his next steps, these uneven as though he was climbing a set of stairs. His shoes smacked against them, the pressure of their combined weights causing the wood to groan. The odor of damp vegetation obscured all other scents. Branches rustled in the persistent wind. Rain drummed hard, sounding like someone typing at warp speed on a computer keyboard.
She heard the rasp of metal against metal and tried to place the sound. Had he inserted a key into a lock?
Hinges squealed briefly as he opened the door…an all too familiar noise. As known to Gwen as the home’s scents, lavender and vanilla from the Febreze that Staci, her cousin and roomie, always sprayed.
He’d brought Gwen to the modest house she rented? How did he know she lived here? Had she told him? When?
She worked her mouth, trying to ask. Hell, she would have been happy to make one frigging sound but couldn’t. Helpless and silent, she recorded his entrance into her home. The hardwood floors registered his movements just as the outside stairs had. He closed the door, then negotiated the darkened interior with surprising ease, not bumping into the coatrack or disturbing the beaded curtain Staci had hung in the living room’s arched doorway.
The multicolored crystals clacked against each other with the blast of air that had pushed inside. Wind chimes near the front window tinkled like tiny bells, not slowing his pace in the least.
He moved with confidence, as though he’d been inside countless times and knew the layout…or he could see very well in the dark.
Into the hall he went, bypassing rooms. Gwen worried that Staci would come out of her own room and ask what was going on. Not a smart move. The girl had barely survived the so-called accident her former boyfriend had caused. Who knew what this shit would bring?
Just stay where you are. Do not make a sound.
Staci didn’t. Rain pattering the roof and the man’s steady breathing were all that broke the silence.
With that, Gwen remembered…her cousin was still at the hospital, working her shift at the gift shop. If Staci stopped for a drink or dinner before returning home or if she decided to study for her classes, she wouldn’t be back for hours.
Relief flooded Gwen. A curious sense of well-being banished her concern, not only for her cousin but also for herself. From the drug the thug in the alley had put in her? Who in the hell was he, other than a rapist? Since when did sexual predators use tranquilizer darts instead of their fists or the threat of a knife or a gun?
What would he have done to her if that wolf hadn’t come along? Where was it now? Had it…?
Gwen’s thoughts halted at the man entering her bedroom, scented with her perfume, a floral fragrance with a hint of musk. With unexpected gentleness, he lowered her to the mattress of her pine bed. The cheap linens rustled beneath her, the ends puffing out with her weight. She lost all of her breath in a noisy sigh and looked up.
His face was above hers, its planes illuminated by the streetlamp’s honeyed light spilling through her window. As she’d suspected earlier, his eyes were gray, fringed with long, dark lashes. Beads of rain dotted his damp hair. A few errant strands clung to his cheeks.
She stared at his mouth, mesmerized by the tiny drops of water on his plump lower lip, aching to touch it. Somewhere deep inside, Gwen realized she should have been terrified. Deeper still, she understood that he wouldn’t harm her.
With great effort, she lifted her hand. It trembled spastically, at last going limp. Just in time, she managed to rest her fingertips on his chin, rough with his coming beard, his skin chilled, his breath deliciously warm.
Who are you?
Treat Bag
Who has cats? I have two. Cuddles and Bandit. I call them our ditch kittens as someone tossed a litter in the ditch by my farm fifteen years ago. When we were saying goodbye to the family at Thanksgiving (Canadian one) the two tiny kittens came up to us, sat at our Emma up closefeet in the driveway and the rest, as they say, is history.
I’m more of a dog and horse person, but there is something very special about these guys. In 2007 they went to live with my  parents since I was selling the farm and mom and dad never gave them back. They loved them too much. The cats came home to me three months ago, since dad couldn’t care for them after mom died before Christmas.
The pic is of Emma though. She is a sweetie. I tried to take pics of the cats with my phone and send them, but it didn’t work. So you get pups instead.
Cuddles is great, no trouble and purring machine. Bandit is good too except he wails. Yes, WAILS! Mainly in the middle of the night. So they are put in the basement during the week. But on the weekends, I let them stay upstairs.
Bandit has been known to lick and nip me in the night. Not really the kind of nipping and licking I’m wanting when in bed. Anyway, cat stories aside it’s Sunday and I’m going to give you a sneak peak of something I started yesterday. It’s still very rough. A series of quickie stories I’ll send to my fab editor at Ellora’s Cave and I hope she will love them.
Kitties love their cat treats too. Shake that bag and they come running. If I shook my caveman bag, would you coming running for your treats?
Well, I shook my bag and look what fell out. Ellora’s Cave Cavemen. Which Caveman do you think should be the Rankin brothers? I know who I’m picking :)
Meet the Rankin’s!
She felt her way through the darkened cabin to lavatory. It was brightly illuminated and blinded her briefly. Perfect timing to for the plane to hit a pocket of turbulence. Trish lost her footing, didn’t see the door open and catapulted headlong into a person coming out. Not just any person, but a mountain of a man. She reached out to steady herself, her fingers closing around some very impressive, iron hard muscled shoulders
Arms snaked around her like steel bands, holding her tighter than she’d ever been held before.Trish sucked in a surprised gasp. He smelled so damn good too. Trish blinked and looked up, way up. This man was huge, muscled, broad, tanned, blond…Viking blond with brown eyes that reminded of her of chocolate syrup she wanted to let pour all over her. Sticky, sweet, delightful.
Holy shit.
She swallowed when her heart tripped over itself and she just about gushed in her panties. This is what you get for being celibate for too damn long.He stared back at her, the right side of his mouth curved up in a smile.
Wanna join the Mile High Club you sexy beast you?
so from the pic above, pick the Rankin brothers. One is Grant, who you’ve met here and the other is Daniel, his older brother which you haven’t met yet. Both are South African.
Creatures of the African Night
By Nerine Dorman
I’ll let you in on a little secret. Though the stories weren’t written chronologically, three of my Lyrical Press titles are in the same universe, and if you start reading The NamaqualandLP_The Namaqualand Book of the Dead_300 Book of the Dead, then go onto What Sweet Music They Make and finish with Camdeboo Nights you’ll get a gradually unfolding universe. And vampires, yes. And love, in its various forms.
The Namaqualand Book of the Dead is a novella that kinda bit me on the ass. I hadn’t intended to write it, but I had a bizarre experience while walking from work to the train station. A friend of mine had recently passed away, and I pretty much almost bumped into a guy who looked almost exactly like him. What compounded the matter further was that flash of recognition in the stranger’s face, as if he knew. And had something to hide. The incident might’ve lasted a split-second, but it remains etched in my mind. So the plot bunnies started hopping and I asked myself, what if a young woman’s boyfriend fakes his own death in order to protect her from a very dark secret. What if death is not the end? So this is part road trip, part murder mystery, and is all about the bonds of love and friendship.
What Sweet Music They Make takes us further into a world of darkness, this time told from whatsweetmusictheymake333x500the perspective of a vampire. He’s not the strongest, nor the most powerful. I’ve always wondered what it must be like for those who end up as minions for the bigger game players. Do they resent their masters when they are sent out as glorified henchmen to go do the dirty work? Who qualifies to become a vampire in my world? At any rate, at its heart, this novella is a love story. Mortal girl meets immortal boy, and they make beautiful music together. But they’re both ensnared in the sticky mess of immortals who don’t have her best interests at heart.
I wrote Camdeboo Nights ages ago, actually long before I wrote the two novellas that released before it (which goes to show how much I enjoyed playing in this particular setting). Here, in this full-length novel, you’ll meet four youngsters who don’t always get on well, but they end up having to rely on each other when one of them unwittingly becomes hot property for the older vampires. Yes, you’ll get a road trip, phantom hitchhikers, magic and lost cities, as well as host of other mysteries as our characters embark on the wildest rescue mission of their lives. Oh, and there’s a classic car. There had to be a classic car in this story.
But before I go, just a word on the setting. All these stories I’ve mentioned are set in South Camdeboo Nights smlAfrica. If you’re curious about what it’s like in my country, and you want a kick-ass story as well, then swing on by. Step into my world. So you’ll be an armchair traveller for a bit. You’ll get to travel up our West Coast, and a trip through our dry, desolate heartland, the Karoo. You’ll spend ample time in Cape Town, otherwise known as the Mother City. Come on, try something a little different. I double dare you.
Like romance? I also write under the pen name of Therése von Willegen, and have two tvw-tl-fulltitles available. Tainted Love  is about a good girl who bares all as a dancer in a gentleman’s club, and Hell’s Music is about the good girl who ends up with a bad-boy rocker who puts Ozzy Osbourne to shame when it comes to a wild past. Yeah, lots of good girls going bad in ways unimaginable. That seems to be a theme in my tales.
