Bio:
Born and raised on the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario Amy fled the big city to settle down with the country boy of her dreams. When she’s not furiously typing away at her computer, she’s a mom to three wonderful children, who have given her another job as a taxi driver.
A voracious reader, she was given her first romance novel by her grandmother who shared her penchant for a hot romance. From that moment, Amy was hooked by the magical worlds, handsome heroes and sigh worthy romances contained in the pages and she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up.
Life got in the way, and after the birth of her second child, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a romance author.

Excerpts:
Damn. What’ve I done?

Dr. Charlotte James had been watching the arrivals board in the Iqaluit airport for some time. She was so focused on arrivals she didn’t even notice the people coming and going around her. A watched pot never boiled, or so the old saying went, but she couldn’t help it. This was probably the longest she’d ever stood still. In her job there was no time to stand still. In fact, she hated it. She could be doing so many other things. Filing, for instance.

Not that she particularly liked filing. She preferred her organized chaos. However, there were a ton of files on her desk, and Rosie had been pestering her for a week to put them away. Instead, she was waiting here for his flight to arrive.

“Flight 207 from Ottawa now arriving at gate three.”

The past, when it came to Dr. Quinn Devlyn, was where it needed to be: firmly locked away. She’d moved on and she had no doubt his life had, too.

He was, after all, at the top in his chosen specialty, and she was right where she’d always wanted to be.

This time Quinn Devlyn wouldn’t blindside her or suck her into some crazy off-kilter distracting, albeit passionate, love affair.

No, siree.

Her life was good. Not perfect but, then, whose was? Charlotte was happy. Courage.

She spun around and saw the plane taxi in on the small airstrip, blending in with the stark, white landscape of Canada’s High Arctic. The only color out there was the brightly painted houses that dotted the landscape. Her pulse thundered between her ears.

He’s here.

The pit of Charlotte’s stomach dropped to her knees. No. Scratch that. Make it the soles of her feet. Not since her MCATs had she felt this way, as though she was perpetually on the verge of hurling.

She was seriously beginning to doubt her sanity in bringing her ex-fiance up to Cape Recluse. It wasn’t a place where she could avoid him easily. He’d be constantly underfoot and she was dreading every moment of it. Would she be able to resist him? The only time she had resisted him had been when he’d left. When their relationship had ended, she’d never wanted to see him again, but his presence here now was a price she was willing to pay to help out her friend. Get a grip on yourself.

A blast of cold air shook her from her reverie. Her gaze focused on the tinted windows, watching the passengers head across the tarmac to the warmth of the bright yellow airport building. Immediately she picked Quinn’s form out of the group of passengers.

Tall and broad, even though he was huddled down under his collar against the cold. Just the sight of him made her heart beat a little bit faster, her cheeks heat and the butterflies in her stomach go crazy. Her pulse thundered between her ears like a marching band. She hadn’t seen him in five years–not since he’d walked out on her–but he was making her feel like a giddy teenager again.

Don’t let him affect you like this, Charlotte chastised herself. She’d moved on with her life. The wound he’d left in her heart had finally healed.

The double doors opened and he stepped into the airport, moving to the side to let more people in from the frigid cold. He set down his luggage and unwound his scarf.

Damn, he still looks as good as ever. Charlotte had been kind of hoping Quinn’s fast, career-driven lifestyle would’ve caught up with and aged him, but he looked as sexy and charming as ever.

Even from a few feet away she could see there was a bit of gray around his sandy-brown temples, but it suited him. Made him look more dashing and debonair.

Author Interview

Today I welcome Amy Ruttan. She’s here to tell us about her new release Safe in His Hands and a little bit about herself.

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Amy and comes back often to visit the blog later.

Thanks for joining us today Amy!

1) Tell us a bit about your new release, Safe in His Hands.

Safe in His Hands is my debut release from Harlequin Medicals. If you like Grey’s Anatomy, you’ll love medical romances.
Dare she place her heart in his care?
Dr. Charlotte James will do anything to save her best friend’s unborn baby—even turn to her ex-fiancé, Dr. Quinn Devlyn! Their relationship ended badly after the loss of their own little miracle, and while Charlotte trusts the hotshot neonatal surgeon’s amazing ability, she doesn’t trust the man who buries his emotions in work….
A career-threatening injury has left Quinn at a crossroads in his life. But, working with Charlotte again in the snowbound beauty of her isolated community practice, he realizes he’s been given a second chance to prove that both the baby and Charlotte’s fragile heart will be safe in his hands….

2) Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc.

My ideas can stem from a simple picture to a song and even dreams. My muse is very random.

3) What do you find draws you most to write?

My brain doesn’t shut off. I don’t understand how people don’t write. I can’t grasp the concept of a quiet mind. My mind has been like this since I can remember.

4) What else do you have in the works?

I just signed a three book deal with Harlequin Medicals for more medical romances. Yay. So I’m currently working on book 1 of that deal, although it’s my third medical. Book 2 releases February 2014 and is called Melting the Ice Queen’s Heart. It’s up for preorder at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Melting-Ice-Queens-Heart-ebook/dp/B00EFPVCGM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377654013&sr=8-1&keywords=Melting+the+Ice+Queen%27s+Heart

5) How do you name your characters? Any special tricks?

Other than my list of names I’ve already used, no I don’t have any special tricks.

6) Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what?

I own a pink Sony eReader, that was my first. Now I use my Kobo Glo and I LOVE it. I can read at night with the lights out.

7) As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?

I read so many subgenres of romance, I really don’t have a preference. I’m not a huge fan of inspirational romance. I do like to have the doors wide open when I read.

8) What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?

Playing video games and Duck Dynasty, Jack.

9) Any vacation or appearance plans this year?

I’ll be at Ellora’s Cave Romanticon in Canton, Ohio from October 10-14 and in May 2014 I’m planning on attending Romantic Times in New Orleans, Louisiana.

10) What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you?

I’m afraid that’s top secret! ;)

Fireborne!

Today I welcome R.G. Alexander .She’s here to tell us about her new release BURN WITH ME and a little bit about herself.

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for RG and comes back often to visit the blog later.

And she comes bearing gifts too!  A $10 Amazon gift card to a visitor… but you have to comment to win. Read her product warning :) and tell us what fascinates you the most about this tale of devilish debauchery.

Thanks for joining us today RG!

Thank you for having me!

1) Tell us a bit about your new release, BURN WITH ME. Burn With Me is the first book in the Fireborne series, and something a little different for me-since my heroine-Aziza Jane, demanded the entire series be about her (and her hunky entourage of course).

2) Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc. Well I was reading a book on Middle Eastern mythology and there was a marathon of Doctor Who happening in our house around that time-so I probably set Burn in London because of that lol-and I couldn’t resist the jinn. Not the I Dream of Jeannie jinn, but the real—far more interesting and complicated kind. Once Aziza Jane popped into my head-the rest is history.

3) What do you find draws you most to write? I’d been writing songs and poetry since I was eight years old, but I’d never written a story (not one that didn’t rhyme anyway *G*) I did read all the time, and when I wasn’t reading, I was daydreaming. Looking back, I was always telling stories in my head. It just took my husband the Cookie to convince me to put my daydreams on paper. Lifting the Veil with Ellora’s Cave was the first story I actually finished on paper. (well on computer-but you know) That was over six years ago, and now I can’t seem to stop.

4) What else do you have in the works? More books in the Fireborne series, next up is Make Me Burn. Also a return to the Veil series, more in Children of the Goddess and Shifting Reality and Bone Daddy and Elemental Steam series…and now the Bigger in Texas series as well. (I like series-can you tell?)

5) How do you name your characters? Any special tricks? Names are important to me, especially in paranormal. I want it to reflect the person, and the meaning is often times just as important as the melody of it-how it sounds. Of course, occasionally I just pick names of people I like or think are funny (Truly Scrumptious springs to mind lol) And sometimes I pick a name that sounds right, then realize later its meaning was perfect-like Linnea from Piercing the Veil (means twin flower-and she was the plucky heroine for my cursed Viking twins)

6) Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what? I have a kindle, though I admit I read more on my laptop.

7) As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer? Good ones. Seriously, I love romance/erotica because the readers are so open to genre. Scifi-fantasy-paranormal-contemporary-historical highlanders. As long as the characters are interesting and the story is compelling, I’m in.

8) What’s your favorite guilty pleasure? Television marathons, chocolate, coffee and video games. 

9) Any vacation or appearance plans this year? This year I’m all about catching up on my writing-next year-I’ll be everywhere! Lol Okay almost everywhere. Definitely RT convention in New Orleans.

10) What would your readers be very surprised to learn about you? I’m pretty much an open book- love getting on twitter @RG_Alexander and talking to everyone. I’m a goofy nerd who loves Doctor Who and musicals. I do have one or two surprises…but I’m not telling. I like to pretend I’m mysterious 

Fireborne, Book 1

Aziza Jane Stewart is living on borrowed time, and making a few mistakes in London seems like a good way to go out with a bang. But when two compelling strangers draw her into an ancient conflict, she realizes her curse isn’t about death at all…it’s about the power within her.

The sexy giant following her says he can smell trouble on her skin, the smokeless fire and magic of the demons he was born and bred to hunt. Brandon may be an enforcer, but his reaction to her is anything but adversarial. Ram, her new Jinn shadow, will do whatever it takes to come between them, and he’s just as hard for Aziza to resist.

When her dark family legacy burns to the surface, whom can Aziza trust? The alpha male who pushes all her hot buttons, the Jinn who seduces her in dreams, or the emerging Fireborne within? As danger circles closer, she must learn to embrace her newfound powers—and trust someone with her heart—before she becomes the final casualty.

Product Warnings

Explicit content, magic, danger, voyeurism, chains, a secret ménage and carnal deeds of devilish debauchery at every other turn. Basically…fasten your seatbelts and get ready to burn.

Sexual Poison

Cristal, how cool to be here. It was great hanging with you and the other Ellora’s Cave writers at RWA. Definitely an eye-opening experience. Since then I’ve had a new release and I’m really excited about it. For those who don’t know, I write erotic romances inspired by the classics and this particular story has a poisonous heroine.

passionspoison_msr

Beatrice Rappaccini is tired of the one-night stands that keep her alive. Tired of the illness she causes when she releases her sexual poisons into her partners. But when she meets Zach Woodman, everything changes. Desperate for what she can’t have, she puts her heart and life on the line, ignoring the anonymous letters warning her to stay away from Zach.

Zach Woodman, logger turned chainsaw artist, has the perfect life, but no one to share it with after the deaths of the women he loved. Fascinated by the sexually experienced yet naïve Bea, he promises himself he will end their hot relationship before fate takes another beautiful woman from the world.

But he discovers Bea has no idea how to have a relationship, and he is perplexed by her strange behavior, hippie mother, six fathers and her request to give him every man’s sex fantasy. It is only when he might lose her that he realizes he must make a decision that will break his heart either way.

Excerpt from PASSION’S POISON

Chapter One

Present day

Zach Woodman was too local to be her lover.

Beatrice Rappaccini reminded herself of that fact as she drank in the sight of the shirtless man using a chainsaw in the forest clearing. The stark muscles in his arms and back danced with the movements of the machine as he angled it through a massive log standing on its end. His jeans stretched against straining thigh muscles braced in a slightly bent position, his construction boots encased in mud.

Bea tried to breathe, but the heat infusing her flesh overwhelmed her. What was happening? She had released her body poisons less than two nights ago down in the city, but this desire making her heart beat as fast as a hummingbird’s wings felt different. This couldn’t be good.

She gulped in air, desperate to control her breathing even as her high-heeled boots sank deep into the mud of the forest floor.

Zach moved to the side of the log and carved out a deep groove. Bea watched his pectorals tense under the layer of dirt covering his chest as he held the machine steady.

Mesmerized, she tried to take a deep breath but her lungs constricted, refusing to allow in the cool forest air. Her head spun as darkness encroached on her peripheral vision. Oh damn. She pulled her feet from the muck and sat down hard on a stump nearby. Dropping her head between her knees, she closed her eyes and focused her attention on inhaling.

As oxygen flowed into her lungs, the clearing grew quiet and unease replaced her near panic. She opened her eyes to find two boots standing in front of her. Silently, she wished she could crawl under the granite rock lying between those feet.

Since that wasn’t an option, she lifted her head. Zach’s sweat-streaked six-pack abs came into view above the edge of his blue jeans. Her stomach clenched. It tightened even more as his muscled chest, complete with wood shavings caught among the short, dark hairs, seized her attention. She took another calming breath, ignoring the growing warmth between her legs, thankful she remained seated.

Her gaze reached his angular face, where she found he had taken off his goggles. His green eyes, filled with curiosity, stared at her. His mouth quirked. “Are you okay?”

She shivered as his baritone voice slid through her like an otter through water, leaving ripples of weakness suffusing her body. She swallowed a groan. Mentally, she reached for the hospitality professional she’d trained to be. “Yes, I just need a moment.” The breathy answer was anything but professional.

His scrutiny didn’t leave her face. “Can I get you something? A bottle of water? A beer?”

She nodded, not trusting her voice.

His grin pulled the corners of his dark lips, moving the stubble of his unshaven face to form black arcs around the sides of his mouth. He turned and strode toward the log cabin she’d come upon at the end of the dirt driveway, his confident swagger demanding her attention.

She wrenched her gaze from his tight ass to give her body a chance to cool. She was here on business and her libido had to behave. Her body’s attraction to this man didn’t make sense. She had released her debilitating sexual toxins in a one-night stand on Saturday and had reached orgasm three times. It was only Monday. She should have a whole week of relief. Somehow, she had to gain control of herself.

By the time Zach returned with water and a beer, she hoped she appeared normal. He silently held out both. She accepted the water bottle while he opened the Bud Light and took a couple gulps. She stared as his Adam’s apple bobbed along the corded muscles of his neck. Desperate to dampen the heat in her body, she raised her drink and sipped.

He gestured toward her with the half-empty beer. “Feeling better?”

She swallowed the cool water and cleared her throat. “Yes, thank you. I’m not sure what happened. I probably should’ve had breakfast this morning.”

He looked at the sky before returning his attention to her. “Breakfast? It has to be about lunchtime.”

She tried a slight smile but feared it came across more as a grimace, so she offered her hand. “I’m Beatrice Rappaccini from the Lakeside Inn in Meriden.”

He grasped her hand in a strong grip, causing fire to shoot through her arm, across her body and straight to the juncture of her thighs. She almost squeaked in surprise.

“I’m Zach Woodman, but I imagine you already figured that out. What can I do for you, Ms. Rappaccini?”

Oh, the possibilities were endless. She looked at the zipper of his jeans and wished it open. He could strip and push his hard cock into her hungry body and make her come until she screamed. She’d never screamed before, but she had a feeling she could with him.

“Ms. Rappaccini?”

She started and pulled her gaze from his crotch. Had she seen a bulge growing there or was it her imagination? What was happening to her? “Please, call me Bea.” Oh that sounded way too husky. She really needed to get a hold of herself.

She stood, wavering a bit in her heels. He grasped her arm and steadied her, getting wood shavings on the sleeve of her green dress, but she didn’t think he noticed. Did he notice anything about her, such as the fact her body reacted to him like wildfire to wind? With the constant smirk on his face, it was hard to know.

She tried to find a semblance of composure as she removed her arm from his grip. “I’m here to commission a carving for one of the Larsens’ inns, specifically, the Lakeside. The Larsens would like something unique.”

He took another swig of beer, but his gaze never left her. “Hmm, something unique, as in abstract, or just different from my other carvings?”

Bea shook her head. “Definitely not abstract. The Larsens prefer rustic to fit in with the environment. I wandered through your shop,” she pointed back toward the log cabin with the sign “Zach’s” burned into it, “but nothing there is quite right.”

He wiped his forehead with the beer bottle as he contemplated, staring at her with his brows drawn together in concentration.

Did he think about the carving or her? She blushed. Since when couldn’t she read a man? Her very survival depended on her ability to find men who were attracted to her. So why was he different? And why was she so affected?

He drained his beer and smirked. “I think this will take some time and I need to wash up. Would you mind staying for lunch while we work on it? You could use some food and I need a break.”

She shrugged. “Sure, I’d be happy to.” She’d be happy to do whatever he wished, take off her clothes, sit on that log, let him—ugh. She had to stop this.

He turned away from her. “Great. This way.”
