Dream On

Today I welcome Renita Pizzitola. She’s here to tell us about her new release DREAM ON and a little bit about herself.

Book Trailer:

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Renita and comes back often to visit the blog later.

Thanks for joining us today Renita!

 1)      Tell us a bit about your new release, Dream On.

Thanks for having me! Dream On is an Urban Fantasy Romance about a dreamwalker named Emory. Dreamwalkers are people who can separate their spirit from their body and travel to the dream realm. Emory’s put her skills to use and runs a business ending nightmares. She thinks she’s seen it all until a man appears in her dream jobs asking for her help. Grayson, a fellow dreamwalker, has been body-snatched and is stuck in the dream realm. They concoct a plan to lure the squatter out but when the lines between the real Grayson and the man in his body blur things get complicated.

2)      Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc.

I get ideas from just about everywhere. Dream On just sort of came to me one day. I have a bit of a fascination with dreams so while toying with different book ideas I came up with a business focused on ending nightmares. And really, how awesome would that be? Personally, I’d want to the be the person who got to end the nightmares, but I’m sure a lot of people would love to have their bad dreams taken care of—Emory style. Everything about Dream On was fun to write. From Emory’s character to the issues she faces, I enjoyed creating her world. I love humor in books so I, of course, had to address the embarrassing nightmares along with the scary kind. Emory was one of my favorite characters to create, and Grayson, with all of his shameless advances, is definitely her perfect match.

 3)      What do you find draws you most to write?

I love to write. When I’m not writing, I’m plotting and wishing I were at home on my computer writing. It pretty much consumes me. I think that’s pretty typical for writers, though. Once I start a story my characters take over and I keep typing away, dying to know how their story will end. Can you tell I’m a bit of a pantser ;)

 4)      What else do you have in the works?

Gilded, book two in my YA series, release Fall 2013. I recently finished a New Adult contemporary romance, which is with my super awesome agent, and now I’m busy working on another NA romance.

 5)      How do you name your characters? Any special tricks?

The names have to fit the character and usually I know when I’ve found the right one. It just feels like a match. I base it on personality, physical characteristics and sometimes I pick names with meanings. It all depends on the story.

 6)      Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what?

It took me a while to suck it up and switch to an ereader but now I have a Kindle and an iPad. I love them dearly and can’t figure out why I waited so long. :)

 7)      As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?

I like humor in romance. I want a story that can elicit a range of emotions but if you get me laughing out loud, I’m definitely a happy reader.

 8)      What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?

Probably reading romance novels. Between being a writer and having an English degree, I think people assume I want to sit around talking about Literary Fiction, and while I have an appreciation for all writing, I’d much rather hear about a sexy new book I can add to my TBR pile. ;)

 9)      Any vacation or appearance plans this year?

My family has our usual beach and lake trips planned for the summer and I can’t wait to have that time to read and write!

 10)  What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you?

I can’t really think of anything that readers would be surprised about, but on the flip side, I teach preschool and parents of my students are always surprised to find out I write romance :)

The Wolf Within

Hi my name is Amy Lee Burgess and I write paranormal romances.  Let’s talk second chance love today.  In my Wolf Within series a second chance at happiness is a pretty big theme.   My heroine, Stanzie, was bonded the first time at age 20 to a man who for all intents and purposes was her first boyfriend. She loved him very much and everything came so easily to them. From their first meeting in line for a movie they knew they’d be together.

Liam Murphy‘s first romance is a bit more complicated. He was completely head over heels, love at first sight with Sorcha, his first bond mate, but her side of the story goes a little differently.

When Stanzie and Murphy meet a decade or so later, it is definitely not love at first sight. They’ve both lost their bond mates to tragic accidents and are still grieving.

Stanzie wants to reach out again to love and be loved. After the deaths of her bond mates, she was thrown out of her pack and was forced to live on her own for two years. She’s lonely and she’s Pack. People of the Great Pack are social creatures and living alone, cut off from a pack’s support, is difficult.

After Sorcha’s death, Murphy separated himself deliberately from his pack, but they wouldn’t let him be completely alone. So he’s had support for the time he’s been grieving. More than Stanzie ever had.

Circumstances throw them together and they end up bonded, but it’s a tough situation for both of them. Stanzie never forgets Grey and Elena, but she does want to reach out to Murphy and try to connect. He’s much more reluctant and we come to find out it’s because he’s afraid to get burned again like he did with Sorcha.

They meet in Beneath the Skin and don’t much like each other at first, but grow to depend on each other. Friendship blossoms. But is it enough to remain bonded?

In Scratch the Surface, more of Murphy’s backstory with Sorcha comes out and many of Stanzie’s assumptions are shattered.  Can they pick up the pieces and keep their growing feelings for each other alive?

The events in Hidden in Plain Sight stretch everything they’ve built together to the breaking point.  Already fragile, can their relationship be patched?

Inside Out is their time out novel. Murphy goes back to his pack in Dublin.  Stanzie is devastated but too scared to do anything but try to go on without him. Yet she can’t forget him, can’t let go of what they had, even if he’s not there anymore.

About Face is the fifth book in the novel and the most important in terms of Stanzie and Murphy’s relationship. They have to figure out if what they have together is worth fighting for.

Stanzie goes to Dublin to try to salvage what they have. But that’s not enough. What they had before is over. They need something better.  Something honest.

Can they possibly forge a relationship strong enough to withstand the tests and trouble that they encounter in this novel?

Guess you’ll have to read it to find out!

Sondrae Bennett & Kalindra

Today I welcome Sondrae Bennett .She’s here to tell us about her new release Kalindra and a little bit about herself.

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Sondrae and comes back often to visit the blog later.

Thanks for joining us today Sondrae! It sounds like we get our ideas from similar situations. I to have a few stories based on events – and yes, yet to be written. Have fun a Comic Con!

1) Tell us a bit about your new release, Kalindra.
Thank you for hosting me today, Cristal. Kalindra is about a harpy warrior who is chosen to guard the gateway between Earth and Outremer, the world of every paranormal or mythological creature imaginable. She discovers that a human, Cameron, has passed through the gate without her knowing, so she takes holds him hostage until she can discover his secrets, but the creatures of Outremer want whatever he has that allows him to pass through the gate undetected and assault the gateway to try and get their hands on it. Through all of this, Cameron and Kalindra develop a relationship and, eventually fall in love. It’s a romance so I don’t think I’m giving anything away with that last bit.

2) Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc.
Everywhere and anywhere. I was once walking down the sidewalk, almost ran into someone and had a great idea for a scene. Of course, it was for a very specific book that I haven’t written yet, but is going to be my next project.

3) What do you find draws you most to write?
I love stories. I’ve always been an avid reader of just about anything I can get my hands on, romance once I was old enough, but even before that I would devour books. I just sink into a good book and can’t get it out of my head, even when I’m not reading. Writing my own stories is ten times more rewarding. I just love to do it.

4) What else do you have in the works?
I’m currently writing a story tentatively titled Bring Me To Life. It’s about a painter who is cursed so his paintings come to life and there is one woman who he’s been painting on and off his whole life who comes to him and…well I don’t want to give too much away, but I am extremely excited about this one. I think it is going to be really amazing once it’s finished. After that, I will be working on the next book in my Alpine Woods Shifters series, which will be Laurie’s story for all the anxious fans out there.

5) How do you name your characters? Any special tricks?
Sometimes a character comes to me with a name. Sometimes I figure out how old they are and look up popular baby names at the time of their birth. I do have a list of names I love that I eventually want to use for a story, but sometimes none of those fit so I have to go searching.

6) Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what?
I read on both my Kindle Fire and my iphone (kindle ap). I do read some hard copies, but I’ve mostly moved to electronic.

7) As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?
I like them all. I know that sounds like a cop out, but I really do. I’ll get in the mood for a BDSM, or a ménage story, sometimes a historical or a contemporary. I guess I read more paranormal romance than the other genres, but I’ll crave most of them at some point. As long as they have interesting characters.

8) What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?
My favorite guilty pleasure? This might be a boring answer but video games. I love to play video games but rarely have the time for them. So I sneak them in here and there for an hour or two.
9) Any vacation or appearance plans this year?
I am going back to high school for a reunion this summer, which I’m actually really excited about. I’m taking a whole week and planning to stay with my best friend, who is now teaching at our high school, and we always have a blast together. So I’m looking forward to that.

I’m also going to be at Comic Con this year! I’ll be wearing a t-shirt with my book covers (although my friends will be as well). I won’t have a booth, but if anyone is going, look out for me!

10) What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you?
Not sure. I’m pretty open about my geekiness on twitter and facebook, so that probably wouldn’t surprise anyone (see comic con appearance, lol). I have two dogs, but I talk about them all the time. I don’t know, I’m an open book. 

Blurb: Blurb:
What happens when a warrior woman meets her match?

Harpy Kalindra stumbles upon three human corpses who’ve mysteriously crossed from Earth into Outremer through the portal she guards. A human prisoner with two traveling vampires seems her only clue. She captures the man, and brings him back to her lair to discover the truth-not only why he came to Outremer, but how he got past the defenses of the gate. She expects answers. What she doesn’t expect is the intense attraction she feels for him…attraction he seems to share.

Cameron has a secret. For years, he’s used a shard of the gateway to cross worlds without detection-for his own gain. When the gatekeeper saves him from the clutches of vampires who want the shard, he learns she’s not just another monster from Outremer. He can’t resist his attraction to her human form, and before long he’s feeling more than simple lust for her.

Kalindra’s gateway comes under constant attack from creatures who want what Cameron has. The assaults are his fault, but he can’t hand over the shard, which is a family legacy. He must convince Kalindra he can help defend the gate…but how?

Kalindra’s anger drained away. This was her fault. She never should have let him get this close. Never should have let him kiss her.

“Damn it, you can’t do this. You can’t try and protect me.”

He snorted in response.

“I am a warrior, not a woman. Protecting the gate is my task, not yours.”

Cameron tilted his head, his eyes sweeping down her form in a slow caress that made heat rise to the surface. Biting the inside of her lip, Kalindra barely managed to hold off the shiver as awareness woke the insatiable hunger for him inside her. The desire in his eyes echoed the emotions whipping through her, destroying all control.

“You look like a woman to me.” His deep voice rolled through her, bringing the shudder she could no longer hold back. When he looked at her like that, she felt like one. Not just any woman, but a sexy one.

When he looked at her with naked desire shining from his eyes, she felt…alive. After coming so close to death moments before, she needed that feeling. Needed him. Passion tore through her until she shook from the force of holding herself back.

Understanding shone on his face, in the roguish tilt of his lips and the fire kindling his gaze. This time when he took a step forward, Kalindra did retreat. Not from him, but from what he made her feel. But he was faster. Wrapping his arm around her waist, he yanked her forward until she stood plastered against him. Every inch touching him.

She melted into his heat, her arms gripping his shoulders as she stared into his eyes. Her body, still churned up from the fight, demanded satisfaction. The fight had denied her any. Here stood a means of getting what she needed.

Their lips met in the middle. Tongues tangling together in desperation for the other. She jumped into his arms as he moved backward, slamming her back against the tree trunk behind her. She grunted at the impact.

He let up for a moment, staring into her eyes as if trying to determine if he’d been too rough. Sweet.

She didn’t want sweet. The fire inside her demanded to be conquered by the warrior inside him. She ached to be taken. Hard, and fast.

Friends with Benefits

Welcome back Rhonda Carver as she stops by today. She interviewed her heroine, Cassandra, and she’s sharing secrets!

I’m interviewing Cassandra Brooks, heroine of Friends With Benefits. Read on to find out what secret Cassandra tells me…

Me:  Welcome, Cassandra.

Cassandra:  You can call me Cassie. Thank you for having me. Sebastian has told me all about you…*she winks*

Me: Sebastian is quite the man. I’m curious…how hard is it working next to him in a hot kitchen?

Cassie:  *batting of eyelashes* Not easy, trust me. He’s definitely the better baker between the two of us, and he can certainly raise the temperature, if you know what I mean.

Me: Oh, I do. Do you mind if I stick my nose where it may not belong?

Cassie: *slight hesitation* Sure…I think.

Me: Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle. You and Sebastian were once a couple, turned best friends, yet I have a suspicion some of the old feelings may still exist.

Cassie: Back when we first met we were both too young for commitment.  And Seb, well, what can I say. He was quite the ladies man when he was younger.

Me: Is he still a ladies’ man?

Cassie: No, he’s not. In fact, he spends more time with his kitchen tools than women.

Me: Maybe because that’s where you are all of the time too–at your bakery, Whipped friendswithbenefits333x500-199x300Dream?

Cassie: *blushing*

Me: I’m thinking you like that idea…

Cassie: Here lately my head has been reeling. You see, I have a secret admirer who has been writing me for a while and although I’ve never met this man, I have feelings for him. Is that silly?

Me: No.

Cassie: And then there’s Seb…I can’t seem to get over the old emotions, and the new ones. I wonder if it’s normal for a woman to fantasize about her best friend? It’s complicated.

Me: Have you told him how you feel?

Cassie: I’m afraid if I do, and he doesn’t feel the same, things will be uncomfortable. Or, if we do give it a try again, and it doesn’t work, I’ll no longer have him in my life.

Me: Understandable.  Why should readers read Friends With Benefits?

Cassie: Doesn’t everyone wonder about that old question…”Can man and woman be ‘only’ friends?”  I have a lot of decisions to make…and I’m curious what readers would do in my situation.

Rhonda Lee Carver is a hopeless romantic. Whether you enjoy sweet romance or naughty erotica, she has written a story for you. Rhonda read her first novel at thirteen and swears one journey in a book opened a window into her destiny. She began writing ghost stories shortly after, and as years passed, her stories bloomed into passionate tales of romance and intrigue. Her soft spot is for intelligent, saucy heroines who can challenge a bad-ass, sometimes broken, hero. Her male characters love to get their hands dirty, but will gladly wash them for the heroine. The men Rhonda writes are known for their bad-ass quality, but with a little tweaking, they become heroes. Believing that every soul has a mate, she also has a strong faith in love and its ability to cure anything.  She hopes readers fall into her romance…because everyone deserves a fantasy.

Friends With Benefits by Rhonda Lee Carver

Cassie’s admirer hides behind a blindfold…could he be somebody she knows?

Cassandra and Sebastian have been friends since college. They know everything about each other, and even own a restaurant together. Now she has a secret admirer—one who asks her to meet him wearing a blindfold…and nothing else. She complies, mostly, and must rely on how he smells, feels, and sounds when they meet. He seems familiar. Familiar enough to be Sebastian? Surely not. Maybe she’s hoping her admirer is Sebastian. Maybe…

Sebastian has a secret Cassie knows nothing of: He’s in love with her. But telling her could destroy their friendship. So he’s got to sit back and watch as she swoons for this secret admirer who uses all the right romantic words to win her heart.

Can Sebastian step forward and reveal himself? Supposing he dares to let Cassie know he loves her, can their friendship survive if she doesn’t feel the same for him?

She no longer heard his footsteps. Her breath caught. The presence of her lover changed the aura of her bedroom. The warmth of the room skyrocketed and a faint scent of cologne reached her nostrils. She frantically searched her mind for the fragrance. She knew the smell, but had no time to process the thought. All logical thinking faded when a deep, raspy growl penetrated the air. A lover’s sound of appreciation.

Knowing he was turned on charged her every nerve. Her breasts became tight. Her insides shuddered. She resisted the overwhelming urge to tear off her mask. Would he run away if she did?

A sliver of vulnerability targeted her senses. Yet, she was excited.

Cassie couldn’t be referred to as innocent. She’d had lovers in the past, but nothing like this. All experience floated out the window as she pondered what she should say, if she said anything at all.

The soft thumping of his shoes echoed off the walls as he moved across her hardwood floor. Sounded like he wore boots. Not cowboy boots, but work boots with rubber soles. Was he a construction worker? Her mind conjured up images of tight T-shirt clinging to a sweaty, toned upper body. Worn jeans cradling tight ass and muscular legs.

The apex of her thighs moistened. She had it bad. How could one man, a stranger at that, fan her thoughts into flaming desire?

With use of her sight off limits, her hearing became overly sensitive. She listened to every sound. The rustling of his clothes and a long, drawn-out sigh, then scuffling as he moved to the side of the bed. She pushed herself higher against the headboard, anticipation growing heavy.

He didn’t touch her. She tucked her bottom lip between her teeth. “Hello?” She wished she could have hidden the eagerness in her voice. She didn’t want to come off as desperate; however, her body throbbed in yearning.

She started to speak again, but the mattress lowered under his weight. Her body slid a few inches toward him across the slick material of the cover. She pushed herself back up, regaining her pose on the bed. Her breathing grew heavy in her ears. Her heart raced. Could he hear it?

Although she knew it was coming, she jerked when his fingers touched her ankle. She laughed at her involuntary reaction, but it fizzled. His touch seemed like a laser, sending rivulets of heated awareness up her leg and exploding like shards of glass into her loins.

A sigh fell from her lips before she could snatch it back. “Yes.” She clenched her hands at her sides.

Slowly, deftly, his palm trailed a frenzied path upward past her knee, and settled against her inner thigh. A shiver of need gripped her muscles.

The tip of her tongue slid out and moistened her lips on its own accord. She didn’t care that desire plagued her with physical signs of longing. All she knew was she wanted this man. Apprehension disappeared.

“Please,” she pleaded.

His hand, warm and large, relaxed against her stomach.

She squirmed, started to reach out to touch him, but he clutched her wrists with one hand and held them securely. She moaned. “I want to touch you.”

“No.” His voice came as a gruff whisper.

Faraway Places

Today I welcome Cd Brennan .She’s here to tell us about her new release WATERSHED and a little bit about herself. What an interesting mix, Irish spirit and the romance of OZ!

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Cd and comes back often to visit the blog later.

Thanks for joining us today Cd! And oh, how I’d love to share a glass of red wine with you right now!

And a huge thanks to you, Cristal, for having me. It is such a pleasure to stop by J

 1)     Tell us a bit about your new release, WATERSHED.watershed

Watershedis my debut release – a romance of the Irish spirit set against the stunning backdrop of Queensland, Australia.

The story revels in those “first days”. It’s about the butterflies, about the wonderment and confusion– it’s about looking forward to seeing that person, just seeing them, even if it is only for a few minutes. It’s that time of your life that rarely can be repeated, all the great emotion and buzz that resonate in your gut when you know something is building, something inescapable, something that will change your life.

Watershed is the first book in a series of romance novels for adventuresome women, travellers and backpackers, or those who dream of leaving it all behind, leaving their comfort zone in exchange for life-changing experiences. And in those faraway places, we follow the heroine as she finds love where she roams. Like in many journeys, the heroine’s path is not only physical but spiritual as they grow and change in their new environment.

The heroine that stars in the following book of the series will make an appearance in the previous book as a secondary character, so there is a connection throughout.

 2)     Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc.

Most definitely from life experience! I lived in Scotland for two years, Ireland for seven years (where I met my Australian husband), and Australia for over five years before settling my family back in Michigan this past year.

I have drawn on all of these adventures to write the series, and travel is the greatest inspiration behind each book. Jokingly, one of my girlfriends in Ireland said that the past fifteen years was mere research for the author I have become today. She’s probably right!

 3)     What do you find draws you most to write?

Now, it is a need. I have to write. That’s the only way I can describe it. When I think of not writing, I get really agitated, like an addiction!

Initially, I wrote Watershed as a challenge of sorts by a friend that I was helping with the editing of her own books. I was an editor first, then an author. But after Watershed, it became addictive, honestly. If I had the time, I’d love to get more than one book out a year. With a young family and other work, that’s how long it’s taking me! If only my 18-month old would sleep through the night…

 4)     What else do you have in the works?

Watershed is the first book in the Love Where You Roam series. The second book, A Stone’s Throw set in Scotland, is with my editor at Lyrical, and I am now writing the third book in the series, currently titled Dusting of Light, set in Alaska. The fourth and final book is set in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland but doesn’t have a title (or definite plot or characters or anything else!) yet. I chose the book to be last as Ireland still remains close to my heart.

 5)     How do you name your characters? Any special tricks?

Mostly, I take names from a location, and I have to say for my first book, the Irish names I chose were very traditional. Margaret Mary (Maggie) and Fergus, the baddie who comes into play. Both are about as Irish as you can get. Again, I used a very common Scottish name, Hamish, for my hero in the second book of the series, A Stone’s Throw. I also ask my friends who live in the native country for suggestions. I let them name the characters. Sure, they live there, they’re Scottish, Irish, Aussie or whatever – plus it makes me happy to let them be a part of it. For the current book I am writing set in Alaska, I still don’t have a name yet for the hero. Half Russian, half Inuit, he is an intense man, second in line as tribal Shaman for one of the small Aleutian Islands at the very end of the archipelago. I’m going to put it up for competition in a couple weeks on my FB page. Let others decide!

 6)     Do you own an ebook reader or read on an electronic device? If so, what?

Kindle – just basic, but I’d love to update to a Kindle HD, the new one. On the wish list, of course.

 7)     As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?

Honestly, I have no preference. I’ll read anything! Romance, thriller, memoir or poetry, I love to read. If you check out my Goodreads page, you will see that I am currently reading like eight books at the same time, everything from Charles Dickens to Uncle Walt, sprinkled with as much romance as I can get in.

What I would really love, though, is to have more time to read all my Lyrical sister’s books. There are so many that I have on my TBR list, and all the girls are so supportive– if only I didn’t need to sleep!

 8)     What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?

A glass of red wine almost every night. I write with it and relax by it after a long day with work and with the two little devils that are my sons.

 9)     Any vacation or appearance plans this year?

I just set the date for my Book Launch Party on June 29th for Watershed. I had it printed along with the eBook, so a local bookshop, Local Flavor, is going to help me with the launch. Since I am in northern Michigan, we are going to wait until the weekend before the 4th to get the summer crowds in. I live in a small town of about 2000 in the winter that doubles in the summer.

There will be nibbles, wine, a giveaway, a short reading by myself (ugh, I may have a couple glasses of wine before that), my Aussie husband is going to dress up as the jackaroo Gray from Watershed and greet folk at the door with a G’day. If you are in the Boyne City area, everyone is welcome! All details are under the Events page on my website www.cdbrennan.com

10)What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you?

I am also an Acquisitions and Content Editor for a small romance publisher. But that’s all I’m going to give away as I’m trying to keep the two separate. A person would think both jobs as an editor and author would complement each other totally, but in fact, they are very different disciplines. I do draw from my editing experience to help write, but really it slows me down. I wish I wouldn’t go over one sentence ten times before I move ahead. That plus the kids, makes me a very slow writer, indeed!

Love Where You Roam – Contemporary Romance Series

Debut Release – Book 1: Watershed –  March 4, 2013

She left home to find herself…and found love along the way.

Maggie isn’t looking for love on her backpacking trip through Australia. She’s got enough man troubles back in Ireland. Australia is her escape, a place of adventure where she can create memories to last a lifetime.

But some memories won’t be left behind.

Gray is ready to quit hiring backpackers to help with the work on his remote Queensland cattle station when Maggie turns up. She’s just passing through, but the connection they forge during the long nights herding cattle won’t be so easily cast aside.

CONTENT WARNING: A strong-willed Irish heroine, a stubborn Australian hero, and oceans of difference to bridge for love.

“In Ireland we have the Banshee.” Maggie broke Gray’s daydreaming with a start. “She is the omen of death and the messenger from the Otherworld.”

She continued in a whisper. “Often she appears an old hag. Folklore says she may also appear as a stunningly beautiful woman.” Maggie raised her brow at him, her eyes twinkling with fun.

Gray threw his head back and laughed, and she joined him. There was no shaking her. He decided he wasn’t going to best Maggie, and for the first time in a long time he was content with that.

He shifted so she had to settle against him. He heard her sigh as he wrapped his arm around her. They sat watching the fire, listening to the sounds of the bush settle for the night. It was peaceful and, Gray had to admit, romantic. He smiled, fulfilled after a long day’s hard work, some good bush tucker and a beautiful woman by his side. He had almost worked up enough courage to kiss her when she shivered, wrapping her arms around herself.

“I’m going to sleep.” Pulling off her trainers, she climbed into her swag. “Goodnight.”

Author Bio

Having traveled and lived all over the world, Cd Brennan now talks with a strange accent, a mix of distant terminology, a blend of culturally cute but confusing euphemisms that leaves everyone looking at her with a blank stare. Luckily, her Australian husband (who she met in Ireland) and her two Aussie/Yankee sons have no problem understanding her – well, except for the word “NO”.

Now settled back “home” in Michigan, she enjoys reliving her glory days by writing about them. She considers the last fifteen years abroad the perfect research for her Love Where You Roam series; matchmaking women and men from different cultures, even different hemispheres, helping them find their true one across oceans of difference.

As destiny plays a hand in all the stories, Cd Brennan truly believes that what is for you, won’t pass you by. She hopes to inspire others to get out there: “Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” [Mark Twain]  And of course, fall in love.

Ghost Hunter

Today I welcome Rhonda Lee Carver. She’s here to tell us about her new release Dreaming Ivy and a little bit about herself.

I like having guests; it’s kind of like having a party. Everyone comes to see what’s going on, hopefully leaves a message or two for Rhonda Lee Carver and comes back often to visit the blog later.

Thanks for joining us today Rhonda Lee Carver!

1)     Tell us a bit about your new release, Dreaming Ivy or big sale or news.

Dreaming Ivy is story about a ghost hunter hero, Max, and a small town journalist, Ivy, who get stuck in a haunted house together. Their beliefs are put to a test when both are faced with life changing circumstances. Ivy gets drawn into the past through her dreams. Max finds love in an unlikely situation. Together they will find answers to the past and a love that has survived time.

 2)     Where do you get your ideas? For example Life experience, fantasies, experiences and fantasies of friends, etc.

I take a sliver of reality and build it with fantasy. Every story I write has a certain amount of truth involved. I find creativity in some of the most awkward things. I could have a conversation with a stranger on an elevator and create an entire storyline. The story I’m working on now, Sin with Cuffs, was created after I tried out a pair of handcuffs. Don’t worry…it had nothing to do with me being arrested. I guess you could call it a test drive, or research. That’s what’s so great about being a writer. We try out a lot of things just for the “research” of it.

 3)     What do you find draws you most to write? The urgency to create characters and stories.

4)     What else do you have in the works?

I’m working on an erotica suspense, Sin with Cuffs. It’s about a Chief of Police, Liam, who tames an old flame, Holly, with his charm and handcuffs. When she becomes a target for a lunatic, Liam also must become Holly’s protector. It’s a romance with BDSM, suspense, murder and gore all tangled to create a modern twist on an old tale. I can’t indulge you with the details, but I can say that you’ll be shocked who the killer is.

 5)     How do you name your characters? Any special tricks?

The names of my characters are created before I even begin to think over my storyline. The images of my hero and heroine are formed inside my mind. I name them and I get to know them before I decide what story fits with them. I have been known to change names, even after edits start. It can be a cause for confusion, but I must always follow my instinct.

6)     As a romance/erotica reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer?

I can’t narrow it down. That’s why I write all sub genres. In suspense I enjoy surprising readers. In paranormal I enjoy the spook factor. In erotica I love the sensual, steamy heat between a couple.  In contemporary I love writing a modern take on a classic story. When I read another author’s work, I enjoy erotica.

7)     What’s your favorite guilty pleasure? Chocolate.

8)     Any vacation or appearance plans this year?

The family and I are planning a beach vacation next year.

 10)  What would your readers by very surprised to learn about you?

That I am a soccer mom of 3. I know exactly what it’s like to balance family and work while keeping our sanity. That’s the very reason why I think reading is important. It gives us all an escape from a complicated world.

Can a past love become their future?

EIvy stepped into the corridor. She stopped and listened. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a shadow sweep across the wall. She turned as it disappeared. “Hello?” No answer. She stomped down the hall and burst into the room. “Hello–”

The room was empty.

Ivy swallowed the taste of fright. A shiver raced across her skin. She had seen someone, or had she? She rubbed her eyes. Maybe the shadows were playing tricks on her.

A loud crack in the floor behind her sent Ivy twisting. The sun from the window blinded her. She acted on impulse. She drew her fist back and punched–landing on something solid. The force behind her connection with skin and bone sent her off balance, flailing backward. A hand on her wrist pulled her hard against a steely frame.

She met a dark stare, just as she felt wobbling. The impact of her body had sent him a step back. He lost his balance. Together they fell. The air whooshed from his chest as Ivy landed on top of the stranger.

She closed her eyes and remained still. She wanted nothing more than for the floor to swallow her. Several long seconds floated by. Neither of them said a word. She finally opened her eyes.

Embarrassed and confused, Ivy laid her palms against his shoulders, pushing herself up. She looked directly into his not-so-pleased expression and gulped. Enchanting green eyes, prominent cheekbones, midnight hair…and a pissed-off set to his jaw. She’d made a mistake–a huge one. “Max Shepard.” It wasn’t a question.

He narrowed his eyes. “Ivy Kennedy, journalist and amateur boxer?”

The deep, rich tone of his voice did funny things to the pit of her stomach. His voice wasn’t the only toned part of him. Pressed together gave her an up close and personal testimonial of his physical assets. Broad chest, tight abs to long legs, she could feel tight muscles and a curious bulge. She scooted her hip around the swelling in his jeans. Heat and realization spread through her body.

One corner of his mouth lifted. “It’s my cell.” Could he see straight through her?

He reached into his pocket and held up his phone. Ivy was certain her skin changed into the perfect color of mortification. She wondered just how bad this could get. Pasting a smile on her face, she said, “Nice to meet you.” The temperature rose between them into the triple digits. Their bodies seemed to melt together. He didn’t look like the pictures she’d seen on the internet. He looked more distinguished in person. “You’re older than I thought,” she blurted.

“Older, in a good way.” She licked her bottom lip and nervously pushed her hair behind her ear. “My mother said I have a bad habit of saying the most awkward things and rambling–” She swallowed. “–like I am now.” She moved slightly.

His zipper started to swell again. Was that another cell phone in his pocket, or… Before her mind could complete the thought, he wrapped his large hands around her waist and lifted her off him. He set her on her feet as he came to stand in front of her. “That’s better,” he said as he backed up. “Damn.” He kicked rug that must have been the reason behind their fall.

He stood there, silent. This was a complete disaster. She’d managed to give him a black eye to match the dark scowl on his face. She needed to start searching for a new job. Marshall would have her head for this.
